It’s no secret when I first started selling prints, I didn’t know the difference between Open and Limited Edition prints….so you’re also in that position too I’ll save you some time on the research. Check out the difference below.
Open Edition Prints
These prints are available to anyone and everyone, whenever you want them. They're printed in, well, an open edition, meaning there's no limit to the number of copies produced.
Pros of Open Edition Prints:
Affordable: Open editions are usually wallet-friendly, making art accessible to more people.
No FOMO: You won't miss out because they're always available.
Variety: You'll find a wide range of subjects and styles.
Limited Edition Prints
Limited edition prints, on the other hand, are the elusive, rare gems of the art print world. In limited edition prints, the number of copies produced is, you guessed it, limited. A finite number, say 100 or 500, and once those are sold, that's it – no more prints!
Pros of Limited-Edition Prints:
Collectible: Limited editions can appreciate in value over time, making them a potential investment.
Exclusivity: You'll own something not everyone else has.
Artist Support: Limited edition prints often come with the artist's signature, adding a personal touch.
In the end, it's what’s important is that you purchase a piece that resonates with you and brings joy to your life.
